NGEN RADALT Virtual Industry Day
NASC will host a virtual Industry Day for the Next Generation (NGEN) Radar Altimeter (RADALT) effort.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Next Generation (NGEN) Radar Altimeter (RADALT) is a form, fit, replacement for the mission essential APN-194 RADALT which is obsolete and no longer manufactured. Any future Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) to the existing form factor is not possible due to end-of-life obsolescence notification from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) (dated 01APR2023). The APN-194 is a low performing system with poor reliability which causes high maintenance hours, increased operating costs, and affects readiness in the Fleet. Introduction of a new military grade NGEN RADALT will improve operational reliability, reduce maintenance cost, meet the requirements of the FAA in Title 14 CFR 91.220b and ensure all relevant Type / Model / Series (T/M/S)s remain Full Mission Capable (FMC).
