Description:

Modern aircraft depend on complex, modular subsystems. However, legacy systems and planning tools treat airframes, engines, and mission system components as independent entities and do not adequately synchronize their maintenance cycle with the parent aircraft across the organizational-level (O-level) and depot-level (D-level) maintenance spectrum. Currently, different commodities such as aircraft, engines, support equipment, and mission-mounted equipment are managed through siloed, disconnected processes. This fragmentation creates misaligned maintenance events, increases the backlog of partially assembled aircraft at both the flight line and depot, and limits the Naval Aviation Enterprise’s ability to maintain a comprehensive aircraft-centric view of life-limited components and maintenance dependencies. As a result, this environment contributes to reduced Mission Capable (MC) and Fully Mission Capable (FMC) performance and complicates effective resource allocation.
