Project Number:
N6130-26-9-0002
Description:
The Marine Common Aircrew Trainer (MCAT) device supports enlisted aircrew training for the CH-53E, MV-22B, and UH-1Y. The current design uses 29 projectors that provide a maximum of 180-degree horizontal by 125-degree vertical out-the-window (OTW) scene through the port and starboard gunner windows, as well as a horizontal 200-degree horizontal by 180-degree vertical OTW scene from the ramp when configured in CH-53E and MV-22B mode. The current design also uses 11 visual monitors and 40 image generator (IG) nodes. The OTW visual display is typically on a 5-year tech-refresh cycle. There are currently 7 fielded MCAT devices, totaling 203 projectors, 77 monitors, and 280 IG nodes which will need to be procured for the next tech refresh scheduled in FY31. The Government is looking for a mixed-reality (MR) device to lower life cycle costs, as well as to support training for a new CH-53K airframe.
