DESCRIPTION:The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR)\, on behalf of the Future Advanced Capability Program Office (PMA-228)\, will host an in-person Industry Day for the Navy Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) Increment 1 Prototype Project. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				PROJECT OVERVIEW\nIn alignment with the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) strategic guidance to deliver affordable\, lethal mass to the fleet\, the Navy is initiating the CCA Increment 1 prototype development effort to reduce risk and accelerate capability delivery of a highly capable\, autonomous platform optimized for operations from Gerald R. Ford-class and Nimitz-class Nuclear Aircraft Carriers (CVN). \nA critical capability gap exists within the Carrier Air Wing’s (CVW) ability to independently provide the capacity and organic lethal mass needed to gain sea control\, impose sea denial\, and project power\, particularly when operating in Highly Contested Environments (HCE). Manned fighter aircraft face extreme survivability risks in these environments\, while the high cost of replacing manned platforms limits the Joint Force’s capacity to absorb operational losses. \nTo address this gap\, the Navy requires an affordable\, highly capable\, risk-tolerant\, weaponized\, extended-range autonomous Unmanned Aircraft System that can seamlessly deploy from and recover to CVNs\, increasing Carrier Strike Group (CSG) capacity and extending CVW operational reach. \n \nThe Prototyping Challenge\nThis prototyping effort will evaluate autonomous platforms with extended range and payload capacity while minimizing carrier deck footprint and integrating directly with established CVN infrastructure.
